New Study : Forward Head Posture Impairs Neck Pain Recovery
A new study found found in Nature found that the more forward your head is the more challenging the recovery from non specific neck pain.
In this study by Ghydaa Anwar, Ibrahim M.Moustafa, Amal Ahbouch, Abdulla Alahoomi & Deed Harrison they highlighted some important considerations, namely:
1. Greater forward head posture (FHP) was the MOST SIGNIFICANT postural factor negatively affecting treatment outcomes
2. Each unit increase in FHP reduced the odds of treatment success by 13%
3. Younger age and females were associated with significantly greater odds of long-term recovery (meaning their chances of recovery were better)
This research adds to a growing body of literature affirming that neck posture is a critical biomechanical and neurological factor in predicting patient prognosis – especially when left uncorrected.
As part of our clinical care program for neck pain we are one of a few Vaughan offices that are trained and use the Cervigard Spinal bracing system. For more information feel free to connect with us directly or visit www.cervigard.com.
